What to expect

  • It’s a working ranch. About 205 acres of fields, fences, animals and uneven ground. Watch your footing and stay out of animal areas.
  • Some roads get dusty. Bring something to cover your face if dust bothers you, and expect your car to get dirty.
  • It gets chilly. Mornings and nights run cold, especially if you’re camping or glamping.
  • Cell service is spotty. Screenshot or print your ticket confirmation so you’re not relying on a signal at the box office.
  • Parking is limited. Please carpool as much as you can.
  • Water on the ranch. If the creek is running, don’t cross it. The pond has no lifeguard, so use it at your own risk.

What to wear and bring

  • Good walking shoes
  • Clothes for every kind of weather, with warm layers for the evenings. Weather can change quickly.
  • A headlamp or flashlight
  • Bug spray and sunscreen
  • An extra blanket or pillow. Glamping bedding is provided, but it gets chilly at night if you get cold easily.
  • Your confirmation email with your ticket, as a screenshot or printout
  • Your phone
  • Your laptop, if you want to set up Qortal

Weather, November 5 to 8

The actual forecast isn’t out yet, because these dates are still more than a week away. Here’s what’s typical for those days in Bandera, based on historical averages. We’ll replace this with the real forecast about a week before the event.

  • Thursday, November 5: high 71°F, low 47°F
  • Friday, November 6: high 70°F, low 47°F
  • Saturday, November 7: high 70°F, low 46°F
  • Sunday, November 8: high 70°F, low 46°F

Pleasant afternoons, and cold once the sun goes down.

Paying on site

Cash works. Silver and crypto are better, so if you can, bring some silver, buy some silver before you come, or buy some crypto.

Wi-Fi and phones

We’re doing our best to set up a mesh Wi-Fi network with as much coverage as possible. If it doesn’t reach everywhere, the zones should have good coverage. Bring your phone, and bring your laptop if you want to set up Qortal.

Where you’ll sleep

Depending on what you booked, you’ll be in a glamping tent, a tiny home, a container room, or camping in your car, an RV or your own tent. Camp only in the marked areas. The map will show where they are. Checkout is 12:00 PM (noon) on Monday, November 9.

Ranch rules

  • Don’t bring outside alcohol. The Barn runs the bar.
  • Park only in the marked parking areas and stay on the designated roads.
  • Stay out of animal pens, and don’t handle livestock unless it’s part of a ranch-led activity.
  • Leave the posted warning signs where they are, and follow them.
